Brief Information

     Captain Michael Corvinus is a career combat soldier with more than 15 years in special operations, covert operations, and other confidential combat related situations. Much of this experience was gained in the employ of Starfleet Intelligence departments... and while he was approached by Section 31 early in his career (and occasionally throughout), he rejected them despite threats and bullying to do so. Numerous attempts by the brass to promote him to a command position have met with failure as well, as he prefers the gritty reality of combat leadership to a desk.

Personality

     Corvinus is an outgoing, open guy who is honest and forthcoming in all his dealings... professional or otherwise. He's somewhat flamboyant at times. He has never had a serious relationship due to his career. As he essentially lives on the edge much of the time, he enjoys a good party, and tends to overindulge in drinking upon occassion; although he keeps his restraint in functions that involve or include officers.
     However, when out in the field, he is supremely motivated and excessively hardcore, and will risk his life to ensure the mission is accomplished. His experience in all levels of special operations has made him an extremely dangerous opponent, and he excels at hand to hand as well as small arms combat.
     He hates oppression, bullies, and any sort of situation - government, group, or person - that resorts to such tactics, which is one reason why he joined the Special Forces in the first place initially, He will step in and defend the bullied in any circumstance when he sees it occur, even at the risk of legal action against himself. His personal motto has always been that of Earth's 20th Century United States Special Forces: "De Oppresso Liber."

Family Information

     Michael Corvinus was raised by both his mother and father on their farm outside of Rome, Italy. Rural in nature, his upbringing was mostly quiet and without much stress. He decided he wanted to do something with his life other than farming, and joined the Marines righ out of high school - later transferring to Special Operations.
     Michael descends in a direct line from the Corvinus family in ancient Rome. Their primary notable family member was Marcus Valerius Messalla Corvinus, a Roman general who fought in the Liberator's Civil War, and was a patron of literature and art after serving as a Consul.

• Vitorrio Corvinus - A lifelong farmer from a family of farmers and wine growers. The Corvinus brand of wines is sold throughout Italy.

• Allessia Corvinus - A farmer's wife to her husband, Vittorio Corvinus. She descends from a family in Rome who has three members in Starfleet.

Brief Biography

Childhood and Early Life (2372 - 2390)

     Michael was born on the 12th of August, 2372, to Vittorio and Allessia Corvinus. His family owned a large farm outside of Rome in Italy, and as such much of his early years were spent roaming the farm and learning the trade. He also learned to assist with the wine-making efforts, and spent considerable time during the season with his father traveling Italy and lower Europe in the effort to sell the family's wines.
     In many ways it was his mother's family that shaped young Michael's ideas for his future. Two uncles and an aunt were members of Starfleet, and the stories they would tell him during family gatherings began to spark a desire to see other worlds and get away from the boring life that was rural Italy.
     His school years were typical of an Italian boy. He did well schoolastically, but preferred to learn by doing rather than studying books. He developed a love of the outdoors and the challenges that extreme outdoor situations presented, and when possible he would be away from the farm on camping or hiking trips during the summer. This did not sit well with his father, who was a fourth generation farmer and expected his son to follow in his footsteps, and an estrangement began to grow between them as a result that continues to this day. The culmination was the day of Michael's graduation, when he immediately applied to join the Marines.

First Term: Marines (2391 - 2393)

     Michael's experience with military life went much more smoothly than he had at first suspected it might. Boot camp went quickly, and well; and he was assigned afterward due to his aptitude to further combat related schools to sharpen his obvious abilities. Six months later he was assigned to the U.S.S. Templehoff, an older Miranda class frigate that had been reassigned to assist the Federation Transport Union with escorting shipping to combat the Nausicaan pirate threat. The next eighteen months of his life were spent in fairly regular raid and defense situations in defense of civilian shipping as a result. His obvious skill in combat was noted on several occasions, and near the end of his first term of duty he was approached by Starfleet Intelligence.

Starfleet Intelligence (2394 - 2409)

     His first few months in SFI was spent in heavy training. Most of the training involved non-conventional warfare tactics such as guerilla warfare, counter-guerilla warfare, sabotage, infiltration, reconnaissance, and the like, and Michael found that this new, more hardcore training and operation regimen fit him much more than standard Marine service. He worked hard throughout this training and made a name for himself as a dedicated, hardcore operative.
     Upon the completion of his training, he descended into some obscurity. Most of the missions he participated in are classified at best, and little is really known of his operating history as a result. What is known is that his missions were wide reaching, and he has seen action against almost every government that has been in opposition (or not) to the Federation within the last 15 years.

Present Day (2410)

     Shortly after his latest assignment, Michael was reassigned to Earth for a period of training on the latest technologies and changes in operating procedures. It is rumored that he may be seeking re-assignment with another organization, in the effort to continued assistance with covert operations.

Hobbies / Interests

     Michael enjoys games of tactics and strategy... anything that makes him have to think to outwit an opponent. He's especially fond of chess and plays it as often as he can. He also enjoys outdoor activities, such as camping, hiking, fishing, etc. When not on duty and on leave, he is usually found somewhere on Earth on a backpacking trip into the most remote locations he can find for days at a time. He is also heavily into fitness, and exercises every day for at least an hour or more.

     Michael's initial service was with the Marines shortly after his enlistment. He served for 2 years aboard the U.S.S. Templehoff. Due to his prowess and skill, he was approached by Starfleet Intelligence when his term was up. From that point on, his service record has been stamped classifed.
