Introduction
"There’s a land where the mountains are nameless,
"And the rivers all run God knows where;
"There are lives that are erring and aimless,
"And deaths that just hang by a hair;
"There are hardships that nobody reckons;
"There are valleys unpeopled and still;
"There’s a land — oh, it beckons and beckons,
"And I want to go back — and I will."
-Robert W. Service, "The Spell of the Yukon, 1907."
Mission Summary
The U.S.S. Yukon is an Aurora class Science vessel. It's two previous Captains were sent into Romulan space, where the vessel performed spacial anomaly science missions. When Sanek was assigned the vessel, it's primary mission changed to one of deep space exploration amongst the Delta Volanis cluster cloud, cataloging new systems and anomalies. Sanek commanded the vessel for a little more than a year prior to being re-assigned to the U.S.S. Archimedes.
Vessel Namesake
The U.S.S. Yukon was initially named after the Canadian province the Yukon Territories on the planet Earth. The name was chosen by it's first captain who believed it was apt, considering the mission of the vessel at the time. The Yukon Territories was one of the main locations in the early Klondike Goldrush, and was brought to worldwide fame as a result.
