Mission Summary

     The U.S.S. Huron has had a long history. Initially commissioned on Stardate DATE, it was tasked with mostly support and patrol duties along the newly created Romulan Neutral Zone. Throughout it's long history, it maintained station mostly within the Alpha Centauri Sector, returning to Sol occasionally for repair and refits as necessary. It was finally put in mothballs on Stardate DATE. With the sudden Klingon threat due to the breaking of the Khitomer Accords, front line ships were needed quickly and the ship was taken out of mothballs, quickly refit for support duty, and re-commissioned for support duty along the Eta Eridani Sector. Ensign Kih'Vok served aboard this vessel during his first Cadet Cruise.

Vessel Namesake

     The U.S.S. Huron was named shortly after it was initially commissioned in 2267 (Stardate ). It was believed to be named after Lake Huron, one of the Great Lakes of North America, in the North American continent of the planet Earth, but there has been speculation that it may have been named after the native American tribe known as The Hurons (or Wyandot Peoples) as well.
