The U.S.S. Nautilus deep in the Delta Volanis Sector.
NameU.S.S. Nautilus
RegistryNCC-91910
ClassMiranda class Light Cruiser
CaptainSanek

Introduction

"On the surface, they can still exercise their iniquitous laws, fight, devour each other, and indulge in all their earthly horrors. But thirty feet below the (sea's) surface, their power ceases, their influence fades, and their dominion vanishes. Ah, monsieur, to live in the bosom of the sea! .... There I recognize no master! There I am free!"

-Captain Nemo, "20,000 Leagues under the Sea."

Mission Summary

The U.S.S. Nautilus was designed as primarily a science and research vessel, despite it's participation in the Dominion_War. The majority of its mission consisted of researching and cataloging gaseous anomalies and other unknown cosmic phenomenon in the Delta Volanis Cluster and the Arucanis Arm.

Vessel Namesake

The U.S.S. Nautilus is named after the fictional submarine the Nautilus in Jules Verne's novel 20,000 Leagues under the Sea. Captained by the fictional Captain Nemo, it was a revolutionary design that was, allegedly, powered by nuclear energy decades before such energy source was commonplace.

Further Notes

The U.S.S. Nautilus is an actual Star Trek canon ship. The vessel fought during the Dominion_War. The registration number listed above for the ship is incorrect; it should be NCC-31910. However, Star Trek Online does not allow for registration numbers in that number range, so NCC-91910 had to be used. Further information about the USS Nautilus can be found here: U.S.S. Nautilus.
